Approximately 24 protected natural areas exist, in the categories of Reserve of the Biosphere, Areas Protected for the Flora and the Fauna, and National Parks throughout Mexico in where the otters of river are distribute (Table 1). The implementation of new protected areas, whose intention is to protect forests and rain forests in the top of the mountain ranges to protect fresh water sources and the riparian habitats, both as much for the ecology as for the sustainable use of the resources. The problem is that this policy of conservation is going to create "islands", those that sometimes are very distant of the others, reason why exert pressure on the population of the otters. It has been demonstrated by Gallo (1989) that the genic flow of the population is given in the high zones where the river basins of the great rivers they approach the sufficient in the zone were they are separated by the top of the mountains like so that the fraction in dispersion of the species (for example the young males) it changes of river. This flow is going to be cuted in many places and will be preserved in some others.
